Hymn For Her

Hymn For Her is an American group from Manayunk, formed in 2007 and active since then. The group consists of EJ Simpson, Lucy Tight and Wayne Waxing.

Style and recordings

Their sound combines country blues with desert rock and psychedelic elements. The act records and performs as a roots-rock outfit with a rough, backwoods character.

One of their albums is Hymn for Her Presents . . . Lucy and Wayne and the Amairican Stream, which the group records in a vintage 1961 Bambi Airstream trailer during a three-month tour that takes in locations from Philadelphia to Malibu. Another release, Hymn for Her Presents . . . Lucy and Wayne’s Smokin Flames, is recorded at Ghetto Recorders in Detroit with Jim Diamond. That album is recorded live and mixed in one week, with 12 original songs.

Related release

The group also launches a hot sauce under the same Smokin Flames name. It features bananas, jalapeños and smoked paprika.
