Hungry Kids of Hungary

Hungry Kids of Hungary are an indie pop group from Brisbane, Australia, active from 2007 to 2013. The band is made up of Kane Mazlin and Dean McCgrath, and their sound combines indie rock and pop with 1960s pop influences and soul elements.

Career

The group forms in Brisbane in 2007 and quickly builds a following on the Australian music scene through radio play and constant touring. Their early releases include a self-titled debut EP and a second EP, Mega Mountain. The debut EP includes the single “Set It Right”, while Mega Mountain features “Scattered Diamonds” and the piano-led ballad “Old Money”.

After these releases, the band tours extensively around Australia, including support slots with Little Birdy and Bertie Blackman. In November 2009 they play their first national headline tour, alongside the single “Let You Down”, which introduces new material after Mega Mountain. They also play festival dates on the Australian summer circuit and travel overseas to the UK and USA. The band splits up in 2013.
