Hue and Cry

Hue and Cry are a pop duo formed in 1983. They consist of brothers Pat Kane, who sings, and Greg Kane, who plays keyboards. The group begins in Coatbridge in Scotland and is associated with Scottish pop, new wave and 1980s gloomwave.

Early releases and breakthrough

Their first single, Here Comes Everybody, appears on the Glasgow independent label Stampede in 1986. Although it does not become a hit, it draws the attention of Circa, a subsidiary of Virgin Records, which signs the duo. Circa releases their debut album, Seduced and Abandoned, in 1987.

Chart success

The second single from Seduced and Abandoned, Labour of Love, becomes their biggest hit and reaches number 6 on the UK singles chart. Their second album, Remote, reaches number 10 on the UK album chart and includes the single Looking for Linda, released in 1988.

Later activity

Hue and Cry continue to release music and tour into the 21st century.
