House vs. Hurricane
House vs. Hurricane are an Australian post-hardcore group from Melbourne, active since 2006. Their line-up includes Christopher Dicker, Ryan Mclerie and Chris Shaw. Their sound is associated with electronic, experimental, post-hardcore and screamo, and early material also draws on trancecore and keys-led hardcore influences.
Career
The group forms in 2006/2007 and builds a strong following quickly on the Australian heavy music scene. Their debut EP, Forfeiture, helps establish their profile, and they soon begin selling out rooms as their keyboard-driven sound gains attention. Their first album, Perspectives, extends that reputation and leads to appearances on the Boys Of Summer and No Sleep 'Til touring festivals, along with tours across Europe and the UK.
After the Perspectives cycle, the group makes major changes in 2011. They remove keyboards from their sound and replace frontman Christopher Dicker with Dan Casey, a long-time friend and peer. By 2012 they sign to UNFD and also work with Edwin Tehrani at New World Artists for booking.
Their second album, Crooked Teeth, is recorded in New Jersey by Machine and becomes the first House vs. Hurricane album released through UNFD. During the recording process, the band also begins making a series of videos to connect listeners with the album experience. In 2017 they release “Give It Up”, their first new song in almost five years, and later that year issue their third and final studio album, Filth.
