Houndmouth

Houndmouth is an American alternative country, americana and folk rock group formed in 2011 and based in New Albany, Indiana. The band consists of Matt Myers on guitar and vocals, Katie Toupin on keyboard and vocals, Zak Appleby on bass and vocals, and Shane Cody on drums and vocals.

The group begins with Myers and Toupin, who previously perform as a folk duo and are formerly of the Saint James Hotel, before joining with Cody, from Riffraff Revival, and Appleby. Their music combines soulful harmonies with an electric sound, with bouncy half-time beats and punchy guitar riffs. The band’s lyrics focus on themes of foolhardiness.

Houndmouth perform at SXSW in 2012 to support their self-titled EP and later sign to Rough Trade Records. They appear on television programmes including Letterman and Conan. Their studio albums include From the Hills Below the City and Little Neon Limelight.
