Hot Mulligan

Hot Mulligan

Hot Mulligan is a US pop punk band from Lansing, Michigan. The group forms in 2014 and includes Brandon Blakeley, Chris Freeman and Ryan “Spicy” Malicsi. It works across emo, indie rock, math rock, midwest emo and pop punk.

The band starts as a five-piece and builds a reputation for songwriting that combines fast, forceful pop punk with the emotional directness associated with indie rock. Its early history is tied to leaving Michigan’s upper peninsula after high school and beginning to tour and perform more widely.

Opportunities is one of the band’s EPs and is later re-released through No Sleep Records. The release is noted for its heavier percussion, prominent hooks and the use of both guitar and synth interplay.
