H.O.S.H.

H.O.S.H. is the solo project of Holger Behn, a producer from Hamburg, Germany, associated with minimal, tech house, minimal techno, house and techno. He first works under the name Motion 040 with Jay Pauli before moving to H.O.S.H. as a separate project.

Early work and aliases

Before H.O.S.H., Holger Behn releases material through Motion 040 with Jay Pauli. He also uses the name Holger Behn before adopting the H.O.S.H. alias for his solo work.

Releases and labels

His early releases appear on Get Physical, Paloma, Force Sense and Word and Sound’s own Wizkidz and Waskidz labels. He also makes remixes for labels such as Plusquam and PIAS. In 2005 he focuses on H.O.S.H. and finds an early home on Stil vor Talent, the label founded by Oliver Koletzki. Later in 2005 he connects with Mladen Solomun and Adriano Trolio as they begin Diynamic Music, and he goes on to issue several releases on Diynamic and Stil vor Talent. He is also associated with Diynamic, Stil vor Talent and Kindisch.

Style and reception

His productions are described as modern house with an interest in trying new ideas and avoiding fixed boundaries. His tracks are played and charted by DJs including DJ T, Karotte, Martin Landsky, Kiki, Tiger Stripes, Oliver Koletzki, Dan Berkson, Benno Blome and Sebo K.

Notable track

His best-known track is “Steppenwolf”, which reaches number 18 in the Groove charts and is later reissued on several compilations worldwide.
