horsegiirL is a Berlin-based German electronic pop artist, DJ, singer and songwriter. She presents herself through a chestnut-coloured horse head mask and uses the name Stella Stallion. She describes herself as half-horse, half-human, and has said she grew up on “Sunshine Farms”.

Style and influences

Her music is associated with happy hardcore, hyperpop, trance and electronic pop, and she also draws on hardstyle, gabber and eurotrance. She names Lady Gaga, Dolly Parton and the hardcore scene that develops in the Netherlands and Belgium among her influences. She also says she listened to Crazy Frog and Hampton the Hamster while growing up.

Releases and collaborations

Her debut single is “Harvest Heartbreak”, which features Baugruppe90, the duo of Louis Köhler and Paul Vogler. In 2022 she releases “Farm Fantasies” and “Pegasus”, the latter written about the day she first meets her collaborator. She then re-releases “My Barn My Rules” with MCR-T in January 2023 after it first appears on their collaborative Farm Fantasies EP. The track later gains wider attention on TikTok and appears on Dazed’s list of the year’s best tracks.

She follows this with “Praise the Farm”, the lead single from the three-track Farm Fatale EP, which centres on leaving the farm and moving to a city. In October 2023 she releases “F0rbiidden L0ve$tory”, which interpolates Avril Lavigne’s “Sk8er Boi” and draws on her parents’ romance. The following December she releases “Wish ✮⋆˙”, a Christmas song. In 2024 she releases “Obsessed”, a track about infatuation produced by A. G. Cook and Tom Demac.

Public profile

horsegiirL refers to her fans as “farmies”. Coverage of her work has also noted her distinctive use of the horse persona and the attention around “My Barn My Rules”, including its play on BBC Radio 1 and the response it provokes on air.
