Horisont

Horisont is a Swedish hard rock group from Gothenburg, active from 2006 to 2021. The band is associated with classic rock and 1970s-influenced hard rock, and its sound draws on blues rock, boogie, heavy riffing and long guitar solos.

Style and influences

The band’s music reflects a strong retro hard rock approach, with influences that include Pentagram, Blue Cheer and Black Sabbath. Its material also includes more doom-laden passages, especially in songs such as “The Unseen”, which combines slow riffing, a dark atmosphere and contrasting melodic sections. Horisont also uses Swedish lyrics in a substantial part of its catalogue, giving some songs a distinct local character.

Horisont records for Crusher Records, a label also associated with Dead Man.

Language and key songs

Among its songs, “Du Röde” is noted for its very slow, emotional feel and for the Swedish-language material that characterises part of the band’s work. The group’s overall style sits alongside other Swedish hard rock acts such as Witchcraft and Graveyard.
