Hooded Menace

Hooded Menace is a death-doom metal group from Joensuu, Finland, formed in 2007 by guitarist Lasse Pyykkö, who previously plays in the death metal band Phlegethon. The group’s line-up includes Crimson Executioner, The Hunchback, Lasse Pyykkö, Pekka Koskelo, Jori Sara-aho, Oula Kerkelä, Antti Salminen, Markus Makkonen, Teemu Hannonen, Harri Kuokkanen, Antti Poutanen and Otso Ukkonen.

The band’s first recording is the two-track demo The Eyeless Horde, made in 2007 and released on 7-inch vinyl the following year. Their debut album, Fulfill the Curse, appears in 2008, followed by Never Cross the Dead in 2010, Effigies of Evil in 2012, Darkness Drips Forth in 2015, Ossuarium Silhouettes Unhallowed in 2018 and The Tritonus Bell in 2021. They also release split records and EPs, including work with Asphyx.

Hooded Menace’s music combines death metal and doom metal, with their sound also described as metal more broadly. Their lyrics focus on horror stories, especially horror films such as The Blind Dead. The band takes influence from Candlemass, Cathedral, Paradise Lost, Asphyx and Winter, and they perform at major metal festivals including Hellfest, Roadburn, Maryland Deathfest, Tuska and Party San Open Air. They tour in Europe and North America.
