Holy Holy

Holy Holy is an Australian rock band made up of Timothy Carroll, Oscar Dawson and Ryan Strathie. The group works across folk, indie rock and rock, and begins as a collaboration between Carroll and Dawson.

Formation and early history

Timothy Carroll is a singer-songwriter from Brisbane, and Oscar Dawson is a guitarist and composer from Melbourne, with links to Ali Barter and Dukes of Windsor. The two meet while working as English teachers in South-East Asia and stay in touch over the following years. In 2011, they meet again in Europe and begin demoing songs together. At that point, Carroll is living in Sweden and working on a solo project, while Dawson is living in Berlin.

Recording and collaboration

When Dawson travels to Stockholm on unrelated business, he finds Carroll and stays with him, and the pair records a demo for a song that later becomes part of Holy Holy. The project develops from that early writing and recording work between the two musicians.
