Hitori Tori

Hitori Tori is an IDM, breakcore, experimental and electronic artist from Victoria, Vancouver, Canada. The project begins in 1998, when Julian’s four-track recorder is destroyed and a sound tracker leads to the creation of Hitori Tori.

Early releases

His first releases include tracks under the name Finch in 1999 on the Omniscience compilation, issued by Sugarmonk and Interchill Records. The mixed CD also features Tim Hecker, recording as Jetone, and Adam Shaikh. In 2002, he releases a full-length album as Fasp on the Nishi net-label.

Later releases and labels

Over the years, Hitori Tori issues several EPs and other releases on Peace Off, Vermin Street, Balanced, Meta0 and Otherman Records.

Live performance and recognition

He performs live using controllerism-style jams, and his videos attract attention from the developers of Renoise, the music software company. His performances also receive positive coverage in Computer Music Magazine and Create Digital Music.

Collaborations and live appearances

He shares stages with a range of electronic artists, including Venetian Snares, Dora Video, The Orb, Himuro Yoshiteru and Techdiff.
