Hippo Campus

Hippo Campus is an indie rock and indie pop group from Minneapolis, active since 2013. The band forms around Jake Luppen on lead vocals and guitar, Nathan Stocker on lead guitar and vocals, Zach Sutton on bass and keys, and Whistler Allen on drums and vocals. The four members meet while studying at the St. Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists.

Releases and development

The group issues its first EP in 2013. That release is later removed, and in 2015 it follows with the EPs Bashful Creatures and South. Its first full-length album, landmark, appears in early 2017, followed by the EP warm glow. The second album, Bambi, is released in 2018.

Line-up changes and touring

DeCarlo Jackson, who plays trumpet, bass and percussion, joins the band’s live activity after previously playing with Nathan and Whistler in a high school band. Hippo Campus is also associated with its self-titled label, and its listed genres include dream pop, indie pop and indie rock.
