Higher State

Higher State is a UK group made up of Patrick Dickins and Marc Dillon. It is identified as a 1990s UK garage house duo, although the project description also says it forms in 2005 and frames its material as “Bay Area rock” from Sandgate-Cisco.

Releases

The group releases its debut album, From ’Round Here, in 2006 on the Italian independent label Misty Lane/Teen Sound. The album appears on both vinyl and CD. Higher State then issues its first single, “And In Time”, on State Records in September 2007, followed by the single “Automatic Motion” on 13 O’Clock Records of Austin, Texas.

Context

The group’s own description places it in a 1960s garage and psych-informed tradition, and it notes comments from the Golden Dawn and the Zakary Thaks in connection with its blog. The act is also tagged with folk rock, jangly and 60s-influenced styles.
