Highasakite
Highasakite is a Norwegian indie pop and indie rock group from Trondheim, active since 2010. The band centres on vocalist Ingrid Helene Håvik and drummer Trond Bersu, with Øystein Skar on synths, Marte Eberson on synths, and Kristoffer Lo on guitar, percussion and flugabone. Håvik writes most of the group’s lyrics and music.
Style and sound
Highasakite’s music is described as pop with a strong electronic and atmospheric character, built from keyboards, zither, heavy drums and occasional noise guitar. The band’s sound draws on indie pop and has been compared in spirit to artists such as Lykke Li, with a further reference point in the film Where The Wild Things Are. Their lyrics and arrangements use vivid, story-like imagery and layered soundscapes.
Albums and early recognition
The band’s debut album, All That Floats Will Rain, is released on the Norwegian indie label Riot Factory and receives strong reviews in the Norwegian press. It is singled out by some commentators as album of the year, and is noted for having no weak tracks. The album’s release leads to appearances at major Norwegian festivals including Øya and Hove.
Members
The group includes Ingrid Helene Håvik, Trond Bersu, Øystein Skar, Marte Eberson and Kristoffer Lo.
