Heritage

Heritage is a group from the United States that has been active since 2007. The name is used by several different acts in the input, covering styles including metalcore, hardcore, heavy rock, stoner rock, thrash metal, dungeon synth, emo and post-hardcore, as well as references to NWoBHM and progressive metalcore.

Metalcore and hardcore formation

One version of Heritage is a metalcore and hardcore band from Manchester, England, active from 2013 to 2018. That line-up releases the debut single Memento Mori, follows it with AWAKE through We Are Triumphant, and issues the debut EP Apathetic Youth in 2015. In 2018 it releases Born Again(st), taken from the EP World Weary, and then announces its breakup.

Earlier and related incarnations

Another Heritage is a six-piece metalcore band from Newmarket, Ontario, active since early 2009. That group builds a reputation through hard-hitting breakdowns and melodic riffs, shares stages with established metal and hardcore bands, and plans a self-titled EP for 2010. A different Heritage is an emo and post-hardcore band from Newport/Middletown, Rhode Island, with melodic songs and driving riffs; it releases a six-song EP titled The Letting Go Of....

Heavy rock, stoner rock and Greek releases

Heritage also appears as a heavy rock band from Greece, and separately as a stoner rock/metal band from Arta, Greece. In the Greek heavy rock account, the band releases the full-length album Herencia (On the Road) in 2009. In the Arta-based account, Heritage forms in November 2006 by Kostas, Dimos and Bill, writes its first demo One more for the road in March 2007, signs to TSM/SLW Promotions for UK promotion, becomes a four-piece after adding a lead guitarist, and says it is performing live across Greece.

Other Heritage acts and related personnel

The name also appears for a project of Attack band members described as dark rock rather than hatecore. Another entry calls Heritage a cultured NWoBHM-era band connected to the Johnson brothers, Gary Barden, Statetrooper, Saxon and USI. A separate dungeon synth project also uses the name.

Brazilian thrash metal band

Heritage is also listed as a thrash metal band from São Paulo, Brazil, formed in 2016. That version releases its debut album Ominous Ritus in 2017 through Kill Again Records.

Members and influences in the Melbourne-based line-up

One later metalcore version is described as a band made up of musicians from different backgrounds. Ethan is the vocalist and main lyricist and has played in bands since his late teens, including the Melbourne metalcore band A Sleepless Winter. Andre is one of the guitarists, has played since age 13, and previously plays in Said The Virgin and A Sleepless Winter. John is the other guitarist, has played since age 14, and also plays in A Sleepless Winter. Shane is the drummer and one of the lyricists, has played drums since 2004, and joins from Foundations Fall. Jacob is the bassist and the most recent addition, with earlier live and recording experience in We, The Rationalists and Room Sixteen. The musicians cite influences spanning metalcore, deathcore, progressive rock, pop punk and post-hardcore, including bands such as The Devil Wears Prada, Bleeding Through, The Plot in You, Thy Art Is Murder, Chelsea Grin, Deftones, Bring Me The Horizon, Blink-182, All Time Low, The Ghost Inside, Periphery, Killswitch Engage, The Amity Affliction, A Day To Remember and Northlane.
