Her Name Is Calla are an English post-rock band from Leicester, England, active from 2004 to 2019 and based across Leeds, Leicester and York during their career. Their music sits across post-rock, shoegaze, ambient, alternative, electronic, indie folk and rock, and the group is associated with a sound that combines soaring strings with crescendos and elements of rock, electronica and folk.

Releases and reception

The band’s debut album, The Heritage, appears in 2008. It is described as a significant release and is noted for receiving praise from Sonic Dice, which calls it “a masterpiece of modern music.” Drowned in Sound describes the band as one of the most daring and unconventional groups in the UK.

They also release a number of highly regarded singles and EPs. The Quiet Lamb follows in November 2010 on Denovali Records and is described by NME as “massive, pastorally apocalyptic music.” In 2014, they release Navigator on Function Records.
