Henry's Phonograph
Henry's Phonograph are a group with origins in Brooklyn, United States, active since 2005. They are described as working in post-punk, new wave and psychedelic indie, and they also carry a lo-fi tag. The band is associated with the English town of Wimborne in Dorset and is now based in London, but their active history begins in 2005.
Style and working methods
The group begins with low-fidelity recording on four-track tape machines, later continuing to record in domestic settings as a way of keeping close control over their sound. Their output is characterised by a rough, hissy lo-fi approach alongside energetic, direct live performances.
Line-up
Over the years, Henry's Phonograph use more than 30 different members. Through these changes, Angus and Fred remain the core songwriting duo.
Musical character
Their music combines conscious lyrics, wry pop sensibilities and accomplished musicianship.
