Henrik Freischlader Band
Henrik Freischlader Band is a German blues and blues rock group active since 2004. The act centres on guitarist and singer Henrik Freischlader and develops around a changing line-up of musicians drawn from the blues, electric blues and blues-rock scene.
Background
Freischlader establishes his place in the blues scene through an early run of three years that includes more than 500 concerts and three CDs. His work is described as rooted in blues as a direct form of expression, drawing on pain, sorrow, anger, rage, humour and joy. The project builds an audience beyond Germany, including listeners in France, Poland, Luxembourg, Austria and Switzerland.
He also appears with internationally known blues musicians such as Peter Green, Johnny Winter and Joe Bonamassa. Performances range from large venues to smaller crowds, with the music presented as intense and immediate when it connects with an audience.
Line-up
The band performs as a trio and later expands its line-up. Moritz “Mr. Mo” Fuhrhop plays Hammond organ and also works with Freischlader in 5 Live. Theofilos Fotiadis plays bass and becomes a permanent member in March 2009 after joining as a short-term replacement on tour. Hardy Fischötter plays drums and is described as bringing a broad and varied repertoire to the group.
Verified members associated with the group include Henrik Freischlader, Dirk Sengotta, Moritz Fuhrhop, Theofilos Fotiadis, Hardy Fischötter, Björn Krüger, Armin Alic, Roman Babik, Moritz Meinschäfer, Marco Zügner, Daniel Guthausen and Oliver Schmellenkamp.
Live activity
The group has a touring reputation across Germany and Europe. It also plays festivals, and the live format is presented as a key part of the project’s identity, with a focus on musicianship and extended instrumental interplay.
