Helen McCookerybook

Helen McCookerybook, also known as Dr Helen Reddington, is a musician, writer and lecturer from Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom. She is best known for her work as bassist and lead singer with the Brighton-based punk band The Chefs in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Career

After The Chefs, she forms Helen and the Horns and continues as a solo artist. Her work also includes Skat, McCookerybook and Rotifer, Helen McCookerybook & Plato Page, and The Pop-Up Chefs. She records and performs under her own name as well as through these collaborations.

Recordings and writing

As a solo artist, she releases Suburban Pastoral, Poetry and Rhyme, and Hamilton Square, the last of these with Martin Stephenson. She also publishes The Lost Women of Rock Music in 2007 under the name Helen Reddington.
