Heavy on the Ride

Heavy on the Ride are a three-piece experimental and heavy rock group from Swansea, Wales. The line-up is Jordan Huxtable on guitars, Michael Bale on bass and Mathew Ham on drums. The group is active from 2009.

Formation and style

The band forms in April 2009 and develops a sound described as heavy, downtuned and gritty, with experimental rock and stoner rock elements. Their music is also associated with heavy rock and robot rock.

Recordings and live activity

After spending time refining their approach, Heavy on the Ride work with engineer and producer Jonathan Haines and record their debut EP, Delaying the Inevitable, at the former Mighty Atom Studio cottage in Carmarthen. They also play shows across Wales and England and later focus on gigs around the UK while working on a follow-up EP.
