Head of Light Entertainment
Head of Light Entertainment are a four-piece indie pop band from North East England. They describe their music as “odd-pop”. The group releases music through Northern Round Square Records, the label run by band leader Carl Green.
Releases
The band has released three albums: I Am Liberated, The English Don’t Care, and Drool. These albums appear in 2009, 2012, and 2017 respectively. The group’s recordings receive strong attention in underground pop circles.
Line-up
The original bass player, John Taylor, leaves in November 2018. Steph Hooton replaces him on bass and adds extra vocals to the band’s sound.
Live activity and recognition
Head of Light Entertainment perform regularly across the UK and play venues including Dublin Castle in London, Eagle Inn in Manchester, Fibbers in York, Georgian Theatre in Stockton, and The Cluny and O2 Academy in Newcastle. They also receive national radio airplay on BBC 6 Music from Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson. The band builds a strong following in its home region and is among the North East acts noted by music and style blogs.
