Hazel English

Hazel English is a dream pop and indie pop artist born in Sydney and associated with Australia and the United States. She moves to San Francisco, then Oakland, in 2013, and begins her recording career there.

Early collaborations and first releases

While working in a bookshop, she meets Jackson Phillips of Day Wave, and the two start collaborating. Their first three songs appear on SoundCloud and attract attention online. English then forms a band and plays her first show opening for Craft Spells at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco in late 2015.

Live activity and EP releases

The band continues to perform through 2016, including support slots for Ride and Field Music, as well as headline dates. Later that year, English releases the Never Going Home EP on Marathon in Australia and House Anxiety Records in the UK. The EP includes two songs that have already appeared on SoundCloud and music blogs, alongside three newly recorded tracks.

Double EP and touring

Further touring follows, including a European headline run in late 2016, a return to Australia, and a first U.S. headline tour in early 2017. By early 2017, Polyvinyl releases the double EP Never Going Home/Just Give In, which combines Never Going Home with a second EP, Just Give In, a five-song set.
