Hannah Murray is an English actor from Bristol, United Kingdom. Born in 1989, she is raised in Bristol and studies English at Queens' College, Cambridge. Her parents both work at Bristol University, with her father as a professor and her mother as a research technician.

Acting career

Murray begins acting after hearing about an audition for young performers in Bristol at the age of 16. The audition is for the E4 teen drama series Skins, where she wins the role of Cassie Ainsworth, a gentle and creative but self-destructive teenager with an eating disorder. She appears in the first two series from 2007 to 2008, then returns for a two-episode feature in the seventh series in 2013, playing an older and more independent version of the character.

She is also known for playing Gilly in the HBO series Game of Thrones. HBO confirms her for the second and third seasons in 2011, and she later becomes a series regular for the fourth season.

Other work

Murray appears in the music video for Belle & Sebastian's "Your Cover's Blown". In 2014, she stars in God Help the Girl, a film about three musicians in Glasgow.
