Hamartia

Hamartia is an American metalcore band from Plainville, United States, active since 2000. The band forms in Connecticut and uses elements of metal and hardcore in its sound.

Formation and early lineup

Hamartia forms in January 2000, when guitarists Jeff and Jay team up with bassist Brad Amorosino. The line-up then expands with drummer Mark Castillo, who previously plays with Piecemeal, and vocalist Vin Tiu, who has worked with the guitarists before. After Brad leaves to return to guitar, Brendan MacDonnald, formerly of the Western Massachusetts band Ehnare, joins and completes the group.

Recordings and later activity

After playing local shows, Hamartia records a three-song demo in August 2000. The band later records one full-length album, To Play the Part, before disbanding. Band members later go on to form With Honor and Bury Your Dead. The group is associated with Good Life Recordings.
