Half Me

Half Me is a German metalcore band from Hamburg, active since 2018. The group is signed to Arising Empire and its lineup includes vocalist Christopher Zühlke, guitarists Christopher Hesse and Julius Jansen, bassist Tobias Max Sajons, and drummer Maximilian Eisersdorff.

Style and sound

The band’s music combines metalcore with elements of modern metal, hardcore and 1990s nu metal. Its songs use heavy riffs, breakdowns and a mix of aggressive and more controlled vocals. The group also works with industrial metal and progressive metalcore influences.

Releases and development

Half Me first gains wider attention with the single Exitwound in 2021, which features Jack Bergin of Void of Vision. The track places the band in KNOTFEST’s “Countdown to Oblivion” selection and helps raise its profile. The band releases its debut album Soma in 2023 through Arising Empire, followed by the EP Opium in 2024.

Themes and songs

Their lyrics often focus on dark and reflective subject matter. Blacklight explores losing control and draws on true crime references, including figures such as Michael Myers and Fritz Honka. I Am But A Guest In Exile follows a character slipping into paranoia and delusion while dealing with sleep deprivation and schizophrenic episodes.

Line-up changes and live activity

The group’s line-up changes around 2023, when Julius Jansen leaves and Silvan Petersen takes over his guitar role. After the release of Soma, Half Me tours Europe and appears at major festivals including Wacken Open Air. The band also receives a nomination for the Heavy Music Awards.
