Gunslinger

Gunslinger is a United States act associated with Washington. The name is used by more than one group, including an electronic project and a heavy metal band.

Electronic project

One version of Gunslinger is an electronic act formed by Chris Anthem and Blare Vidal. It combines classic song structures and vocals with electronic dance experience, and its music sits across alternative dance, electro, trance and rock. The group performs both as a live rocktronica act, using guitar, synths and drums, and as an electro and trance DJ set. It performs worldwide and opens for major dance acts including Tiesto, Pendulum and Paul Van Dyk. It also signs with Coast ll Coast, tours with Infected Mushroom, and releases its debut CD, Early Volumes 1, through Last Gang in 2010.

Heavy metal band

Another Gunslinger begins as Chainsaw in 1979, founded by bassist and vocalist Alan Davey and guitarist Nigel Potter. The band draws influence from Motörhead, Hawkwind, Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple, and builds a reputation for playing loudly while gathering a steady following. It records a demo and secures a recording contract, but splits in 1982 before issuing a debut album. The band returns in 2008 with Earthquake in E Minor, featuring Davey on bass and vocals, Potter on guitars and vocals, and George Agent on drums. A later live lineup includes James Tait on guitar and Sunil Jolly on drums, both also members of The Meads of Asphodel alongside Davey. The current lineup features Alan Davey on bass and vocals, his nephew Louis Davey, and Cat Bothwell on drums and vocals.
