Groenland

Groenland is a Montréal, Canada-based group that makes pop music with an orchestral indie-pop and electro element. The band releases music through Bonsound.

Formation and members

The group includes Jonathan Charette, Simon Gosselin, Ariane Gruet-Pelchat, Sabrina Halde, Jean-Vivier Lévesque and Gabrielle Girard-Charest. Sabrina Halde handles lead vocals, ukelele, keyboards and percussion; Jean-Vivier Lévesque plays keyboards and programming; Jonathan Charette plays drums; Simon Gosselin plays bass; and Gabrielle Girard-Charest plays cello. The original line-up also includes Fanny C. Laurin on violin.

Debut album

The Chase is the band’s first album. It is released in 2013 and issued through Bonsound. The record is produced by Philippe B and Guido Del Fabbro, who also works with Pierre Lapointe.

Style

Groenland’s music combines warm orchestral indie-pop writing with a touch of electronic production, drawing together strings, keyboards, bass, drums and vocals in a pop framework.
