Gregor Tresher

Gregor Tresher is an electronic music producer and DJ from Frankfurt am Main, born in 1976. He works in techno, minimal techno, tech house and electro, and is associated with the Break New Soil label. His early work develops out of the Rhine-Main area, where he builds a reputation over more than seven years before his name becomes more widely known in European techno.

Releases and productions

His 2005 Still EP is a key release in his catalogue and marks a major step in his career. Other notable tracks and releases include Neon, Full Range Madness and The Now People, which appear on labels including Datapunk, Cocoon, Great Stuff and Terminal M. Neon becomes a prominent summer track in 2006, while Full Range Madness appears on Cocoon’s Compilation F and helps establish his profile further.

He also works with Billy Nasty from London and later collaborates with Guy Gerber on Open The Gates. His Komm remix for Sven Väth and Anthony Rother is listed among the notable remixes from this period.

Style and earlier project

Tresher begins with electro as a central reference point, and he describes his approach as open to different forms of electronic music rather than fixed to one style. He later combines techno, tech-house and electro in his DJ sets. Before working under his own name, he releases records as Sniper Mode on Frankfurt labels Elektrolux and Mikrolux. His music draws on energetic electronic forms, with room for melodies and vocals as well as harder rhythmic structures.

In 2006, readers of Raveline vote him Best Producer; he also ranks highly in the magazine’s Newcomer 2006 and Best Track 2006 categories, the latter for Full Range Madness. During the same period he plays major events such as Mayday, Nature One and Street Parade, as well as clubs including Fabric in London, Fuse in Brussels, Loft in Barcelona and the Cocoon Club in Frankfurt.

By early 2007, he is working on his first album under his own name, planned for release on Great Stuff Recordings, with live performances forming part of that phase of his career.
