Greg Gibbs is a home-recording musician from Chicago, originally from Roswell, New Mexico. He writes songs while also running a sandwich shop, and usually plays the instruments and sings all of the vocals himself.
Musical activity
Gibbs works in a lo-fi, self-sufficient style that draws on guitar, keyboard, drum machine and beatboxing. He is associated with alternative, indie, Ween and Frank Zappa, and he records and performs largely as a solo artist.
Releases and projects
He makes songs as part of a “song a week” approach and offers download albums for free through his own site. He is also noted for a cover of Luther Vandross’s “The Glow of Love”.
Other notes
In 2002, Gibbs wins an Easter colouring contest at Bridgeview Bank and receives a Beanie Baby lion as a prize. He is also occasionally mistaken for another Greg Gibbs, with phone calls intended for the other person sometimes reaching him.
