Greg Davis is an electronic musician from Crystal Lake, United States, born in 1975. He works mainly as a solo artist, with music that sits across ambient, electronic, glitch and drone. His performances and recordings often use a wide range of instruments and objects, including guitar, khaen, gongs, synthesizer, pine cones and laptop.
Career
Davis releases music on labels including Autumn Records, Carpark, Kranky, Important, Tompkins Square, Tonschacht, Room40 and Ghostly. He also works in audio mastering and has been involved in developing a music scene for other artists in Burlington, Vermont, where he lives.
Collaborations and projects
Although he mainly records alone, Davis has worked with Jeph Jerman, Zach Wallace in Sun Circle, Keith Fullerton Whitman, Sebastien Roux, Steven Hess, Joseph Grimm and Akron/Family. His project membership includes Harmonizer and Sun Circle.
Performance style
Davis has toured and travelled internationally and has described live work centred on meditative drone and deep listening, with an emphasis on present-moment concentration and open listening.
