Gramophonedzie is a Serbian DJ and producer, born Marko Milicevic, who studies sound design at the University of Belgrade. He works under the Gramophonedzie name on tracks that draw on funky music, live instruments and vocal-led arrangements.

Career

He begins his career in 2000 as a participant in the Irish Red Bull Music Academy. In 2006, he composes the theme tune for Veliki Brat, the Serbian version of Big Brother.

Notable release

His best-known track is Why Don’t You, which samples an old swing recording, Peggy Lee’s 1942 lounge track (Get Me Some Money Too). The track brings him wider attention in the global house scene and leads to a deal with Virgin/Positiva Records.

Style and collaborations

Gramophonedzie works in house, electro-swing, dance and trip-hop. He is also described as one of the more prominent remixers from south-eastern Europe, based in Belgrade. His collaborator Saša Radosavljevic helps him on the project, and the pair spend time in the Beatport download charts.
