Goodbye June

Goodbye June is a Nashville-based American rock band active since 2005. Its sound draws on blues rock and hard rock, with an emphasis on heavy blues and raw rock and roll.

Origins

The band forms after guitarist Tyler Baker learns that his brother, PFC Shane Baker, dies in a fatal car accident while on leave. Tyler Baker, along with his cousins Brandon Qualkenbush and Landon Milbourn, travels to southern Indiana and starts writing songs in response to the loss. The group later takes the name Goodbye June in memory of that tragedy, then moves to Nashville and its developing rock scene.

Career and recordings

Goodbye June releases its first album, Nor The Wild Music Flow, and builds a reputation as a live band through extensive touring in Europe and across the Southeast and Midwest. The band appears at festivals and events including Live On The Green, Forecastle, Midpoint and Red River Revel. Its song “Daisy” receives airplay on WRLT (Lightning 100), and the track wins the international Unsigned Only grand prize from a field of 8,000 entries.

The band works on its second album with Grammy-nominated producer Paul Moak and later tours with ZZ Top and Blackberry Smoke. Its stated approach centres on grit, soul and straightforward rock and roll.
