Goodbye Honolulu

Goodbye Honolulu is a Toronto garage rock group centred on WEBB. The band meets in high school and develops alongside several other projects, with the members also starting the Toronto label Fried Records while still at school. Their early years include playing in bars, trying to get underage friends into shows, writing songs and self-releasing multiple albums each year.

As they reach their 20s, Emmett, Jacob, Fox and Max join together around one main project and continue as Goodbye Honolulu. Their sound draws on 1990s slacker rock, vintage garage rock and roll and modern elements, sitting between pop and punk. They are associated with acts such as the Black Lips, Cage the Elephant and Ty Segall.

The group is known for its live performances and for songs built around group vocals and shout-along choruses. Individual members are described through their stage roles and style: Emmett plays fuzz-layered guitar, Jacob handles gnarly vocals, Fox contributes Bowie-influenced vocal inflections, and Max drives the drums hard.

Goodbye Honolulu tour the United States supporting Hinds and release their debut album, Heavy Gold, in 2016. They are linked with Fried Records.
