Good Shoes
Good Shoes are an indie rock group from Morden, United Kingdom, active since 2005. They form in Morden, London in 2004 and begin as a duo made up of Rhys Jones and Steve Leach. After a charity gig in Kingston-upon-Thames, the project expands into a full band.
Line-up
The group’s final line-up consists of Rhys Jones, Steve Leach, William Church and Tom Jones. Tom Jones, Rhys Jones’s brother, joins on drums. Joel Cox, a school friend of Rhys Jones and Steve Leach, joins as bassist. Later, as the band record their second album, Bob Matthews records the bass parts as a stand-in, and Will Church appears as bassist around the time of the second album’s release.
Recordings and releases
Good Shoes sign to Brille Records in November 2005. They travel to Malmö, Sweden to record their debut album, Think Before You Speak, which is released in March 2007. The album includes all four singles the band has already issued. Their second album, No Hope, No Future, follows in January 2010. The first single from that album, The Way My Heart Beats, is released as a free download in August 2009.
Live activity
The band tours with Kaiser Chiefs, The Maccabees, The Pigeon Detectives and Maxïmo Park. They also headline a tour in November 2007 with support from Lightspeed Champion.
