Good Kid
Good Kid is a Toronto indie rock and indie pop group. The band has five members: Nick Frosst on lead vocals, Jon Kereliuk on drums, Michael Kozakov on bass, and David Wood and Jacob Tsafatinos on guitars.
Career
The group releases music under the name Good Kid and uses the mascot Nomu Kid prominently in its marketing and social media. Its first single, Nomu, appears in October 2015 and introduces Nomu Kid. The band then releases a series of singles before issuing its debut EP, Good Kid, in June 2018.
Good Kid follows this with more singles and a second EP, Good Kid 2, in late 2020. Around this period, the band gains a wider audience through its music being used in Fortnite streams. It releases its music DMCA-free so that it can be used by streamers, and several of its songs are later added to the game.
In December 2020, Good Kid releases an album of 8-bit versions of its EPs alongside a game called Ghost King’s Revenge. The band continues with further singles from its next EP, including No Time to Explain and Mimi’s Delivery Service, before releasing Good Kid 3 in 2023. A bonus track from the vinyl edition of that EP, Ground, is issued separately as a single later that year.
Good Kid also releases a cover of Laufey’s From The Start in 2023. This becomes the band’s most listened-to track. The song is also the first of four singles from Good Kid 4, which appears in 2024.
Later releases
In 2024, the band issues Acoustic Kid, an acoustic EP featuring new versions of songs from across its catalogue, along with a collaboration with Loupe. It then releases the singles Wall and Rift, which are later identified as part of its debut album, Can We Hang Out Sometime?
