GoldieLocks
GoldieLocks is the stage name of Ella Mäntynen, a Finnish indie-pop artist and songwriter from Joensuu, Finland. She is Berlin-based and works in pop and synth-pop, with music that also draws on indie-pop and electronic elements. Her songs combine band-style instrumentation associated with earlier decades and a contemporary pop approach, often framed in a cinematic way.
She writes highly personal lyrics, using her own experiences as well as conversations with close friends and family stories as material. Her interest in performing and songwriting develops after a music teacher notices her strong voice, and she begins working with a demo producer at an early stage, which marks the start of her professional path. Her parents are not musicians, but they are keen listeners, and her father gives regular critical opinions on music.
GoldieLocks also works as a songwriter and quickly secures a publishing contract after recording only a couple of demos. In her production work and sound development, she listens to bands such as Tame Impala. She treats lyrics and composition as serious creative tools and places importance on writing distinctive songs.
In 2025, she competes in the Finnish UMK, or Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu, with the song “Made Of” and finishes second with 303 points.
