Goldfrapp

Goldfrapp are an English electronic group from Bath, United Kingdom, active since 1999. The duo consists of Alison Goldfrapp, who sings and plays synthesizer, and Will Gregory, who plays synthesizer. They release music on Fascination and work across alternative pop, alternative rock, ambient pop, art pop, chamber pop and dance, as well as electronic, trip-hop and electronica.

Albums and style

Their debut studio album, Felt Mountain, receives favourable reviews and is shortlisted for the Mercury Prize, though it does not chart highly. Their second album, Black Cherry, appears in 2003 and brings in glam rock and synthpop elements. That direction carries into Supernature, which pushes further towards dance music and achieves international chart success. The album produces three number-one US dance singles and is nominated for Best Electronic/Dance Album at the 49th Grammy Awards.

Seventh Tree places more emphasis on ambient and downtempo material, with inspiration from nature and paganism. Head First explores 1980s-influenced synthpop and is nominated for Best Electronic/Dance Album at the 2010 Grammy Awards. Tales of Us, released in 2013, is folktronica-influenced and receives critical acclaim. Silver Eye follows in 2017 and debuts at number six on the UK Albums Chart.
