Goddard

Goddard is a four-piece band from Worcester, Massachusetts, and has been active since 2010. The group plays a math rock-led style that also sits within post-hardcore, post-punk, electronic and drum and bass contexts.

Style and influences

The band’s sound is built around a simple but layered approach to songwriting. Their tracks use narrative-based song structures, distinctive melodies and shifting dynamics. They name Drive Like Jehu, Nirvana, Don Caballero, Fugazi, Hum, Shellac and Slint among their main influences.

Releases and recording

In June 2013, Goddard release a split with Giraffes? Giraffes!, with their two tracks recorded by Steve Albini. Their music is also available through their Bandcamp presence.

Live activity and related projects

On tour, Goddard share bills with artists including Thurston Moore, J. Mascis, Giraffes? Giraffes! and Kayo Dot. They also appear in the DIT documentary, which looks at the DIY/DIT movement in music around the world.
