Gnarwolves

Gnarwolves are a British punk rock band from Brighton, England. The group forms in 2011 and is active until 2018. Its line-up consists of brothers Thom Weeks on lead vocals and guitar, Max Weeks on drums, and Charlie Piper on bass guitar and backing vocals.

Formation and early line-up

The band forms after the Weeks brothers’ earlier group, Kasa, comes to an end. Thom and Max Weeks then connect with Charlie Piper, originally from Cornwall and formerly of Rasputin, after he posts online about wanting to start a new band. The three-piece develops around shared interests in skateboarding, rough-edged punk and partying, and builds an early following through shows in Brighton.

Releases and touring

Gnarwolves self-release the tape Fun Club in 2011, then issue the vinyl-only CRU EP in 2012 through Tangled Talk. That release is later reissued on CD by Big Scary Monsters. In 2012 the band tours Europe with The Wonder Years, The Story So Far and Lower Than Atlantis, alongside their own headline dates. In mid-2013 they release the single Funemployed on the German label Day by Day.

Compilation and album releases

At the start of 2014, Pure Noise gathers the band’s earlier material on The Chronicles of Gnarnia. Around the same time, the group announces its debut full-length album. After a three-year break and further touring, Gnarwolves return to the studio and release their second album, Outsiders, in 2017.

Style

The band is associated with punk rock, pop punk and skate punk, and is also tagged with melodic hardcore, hardcore and hardcore punk.
