Girls

Girls are a US indie rock band from San Francisco, active between 2007 and 2012. The group centres on Christopher Owens, who writes songs and sings lead vocals, and Chet “JR” White, who plays bass and produces. Will Ivy is also listed as a member. Their sound draws on music from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, and is described as lo-fi, surf rock, rock and roll, psychedelic rock, pop rock, country rock and garage rock.

Releases

Their debut full-length album, Album, appears in 2009 and receives critical acclaim. The follow-up, Father, Son, Holy Ghost, is released in 2011 and is also well received.

End of the band

In July 2012, Owens announces that he is leaving the band and continuing as a solo artist.
