giant loop of sound
giant loop of sound are a band from Carlisle in the north of England. They are together for four years and describe their music as “clap and spin”, a phrase that points to their upbeat sound.
Line-up and instrumentation
The band includes Stephen Dunn on vocals and guitar, Andy Harper on bass and backing vocals, Neil Fraser on drums, percussion and backing vocals, and Chris Harty on keyboards and backing vocals. Their wider arrangement also includes Chris Riley on trombone and Alan Branstone on trumpet, forming what they call the Randall & Hopkirk Orchestra. John Chambers plays guitar on “Something’s Bothering Me”, and Andy Cairns plays keyboards on “The Show”, “Cards” and “Give Me Your Attention”.
Recording
Most of their songs are recorded at The Music Farm in Egremont by Tom and Lee. “Something’s Bothering Me” is recorded separately at Parr Street Studios in Liverpool.
Performance style
They are known for lively shows, and “Something’s Bothering Me” is a regular favourite that fills the dance floor.
