GhosteMane is the stage name of Eric Whitney, a rapper and musician from Lake Worth, Florida. He is associated with metal, rap metal and trap metal, and is linked to Blowed Out Records. Whitney is also connected with the Schemaposse collective.

Background

Whitney is born in 1991 and grows up in West Palm Beach, Florida, having been born in Lake Worth. His parents are from New York. As a teenager, he plays guitar in several bands, which is his introduction to music, and he also plays football in high school because his father pushes him to do so. His father dies when Whitney is seventeen.

Before focusing on rap, Whitney plays guitar in hardcore and doom metal bands. He later first encounters rap while playing guitar in the hardcore punk band Nemesis, when a bandmate introduces him to Memphis rap.

Career

Whitney studies astrophysics at university and graduates before working in a job that pays $65,000 a year. He begins his career as a rapper and later moves to Los Angeles, California in 2015 after finding that his music is not developing in southern Florida. He leaves his job at the same time.

In Los Angeles, he meets JGRXXN and joins Schemaposse, a collective that also includes Lil Peep and Craig Xen. Schemaposse disbands in April 2016, after which Whitney is not associated with a group for a time.

He later works with $uicideboy$ and Pouya. Pouya releases the video for "1000 Rounds" with GhosteMane in April 2017, and the video becomes widely viewed online.

Recorded work

In 2018, Whitney releases his 10th album, N / O / I / S / E (No One Is Safe from Evil). The album is released by surprise in October 2018. It has a dark, aggressive sound and deals with self-harm, self-mutilation, agoraphobia and other personal issues.
