Ghost Dance

Ghost Dance are an 80s UK goth band active from 1985 to 1989. The group forms in Bradford, England, and is associated with Leeds in the United Kingdom. It is founded by Gary Marx, formerly the guitarist in The Sisters of Mercy, and Anne-Marie Hurst, formerly the vocalist in Skeletal Family, as both leave their previous bands.

The band begins on Nick Jones’ Karbon Records and later signs to Chrysalis Records. Its core line-up includes Gary Marx on guitars and Anne-Marie Hurst on vocals throughout the band’s run, with Steve Smith on guitars in 1985 to 1986, Richard Steel on guitars from 1986 to 1989, Paul Etchells, also known as Etch, on bass from 1985 to 1989, Pandora on drums in 1986, and John Grant on drums from 1986 to 1989.

Ghost Dance are described as a guitar pop, goth and rock group, and are also tagged as gothic rock and deathrock.
