Gerd is the alias of Dutch electronica producer Gert-Jan Bijl, who also records and performs under the names Amplified Orchestra, Automator, B.S.O. Research, Glisten Syndicate, Literon, Metro Dade, Replica, William Literon, Geeeman and NY Stomp. He is associated with Netherlands-based electronic music and works across styles including nu jazz, lounge, downtempo, house and chillout.

Sensurreal

He also performs as Sensurreal with Dirk Jan Hanegraaff. The pair gain attention during the 1990s through their live shows and their release on Beam Me Up, a Dutch label in Rotterdam associated with Speedy J. Their biggest success follows in 1999, after the project splits, when they release a house remix of No White Clouds In My Blue Sky.
