Geordie

Geordie are a British glam rock and hard rock band from Newcastle upon Tyne. They form in 1972 and remain active, and their line-up includes Brian Johnson, Tom Hill and Vic Malcolm.

Overview

The group first appears with Vic Malcolm on lead guitar, Tom Hill on bass, Brian Gibson on drums and Brian Johnson on lead vocals. Johnson later joins AC/DC. Malcolm, born Albert Victor Malcolm in Newcastle upon Tyne, writes the band’s chart hits in the 1970s, including “All Because of You”, “Electric Lady” and “She’s a Teaser”.

Television and recordings

Geordie appear frequently on Top of the Pops in the early 1970s and also on Lift Off, alongside artists including Alice Cooper, Wizzard and Queen. Their debut album, Hope You Like It, is released in 1973 on EMI’s Regal Zonophone label and Red Bus Records.
