Geoff Robb is a United Kingdom-born guitarist and music performer, born in 1972, who works mainly as a solo player and in event music. He starts guitar at the age of 11 and begins earning a full living from music at 18, spending two years travelling in Europe as a street musician.
Training and style
Robb studies classical guitar with Paul Gregory, a winner of the International Segovia Prize, and also receives tuition from Gilbert Biberian, Gary Ryan, Roberto Aussell and Roland Dyens. He holds a diploma in jazz and studies with acoustic guitarist Eric Roche. A BBC Southern Counties comment describes his playing as making the guitar sound like two guitars and a piano.
Recordings
He releases two classical solo CDs and plans a recording of his own compositions for solo guitar.
Performances and collaborations
Robb appears at the International Guitar Festivals of Great Britain, Nottingham and Lewes. He performs with Herbie Flowers and supports touring artists including Eduardo Niebla, Clive Carroll, Tony McManus and Tony Cox. He also appears as a soloist with The Bath Concertina Orchestra. His concert work includes regular appearances at festivals such as Glastonbury, Edinburgh and Brighton, and he also gives concerts in Ireland and Switzerland.
Work as an event musician
Based in Sussex, Robb builds a career through concerts, recitals and background music for corporate functions and weddings, combining gentle and entertaining music for events.
