Geoff Barrow is a producer and instrumentalist from Walton in Gordano, United Kingdom. He is a member of Portishead, Quakers and BEAK>, and he releases music through Invada and Invada Records.
He is best known for his long-running role in Portishead, which he joins at the group’s formation in 1991. At the start of the 1990s, he also builds a profile as a remixer, working with Primal Scream, Paul Weller, Gabrielle and Depeche Mode. He produces a track for Tricky and writes songs for Neneh Cherry.
Other projects
In 2009, Barrow forms BEAK> with Billy Fuller of Fuzz Against Junk and Matt Williams of Team Brick. The group’s self-titled debut album appears that same year. In 2010, BEAK> performs as the backing band on Anika’s self-titled debut album.
He also forms the hip hop project Quakers, which is announced in 2012 and set to release an album on Stones Throw. Another collaboration, Drokk, brings him together with TV composer Ben Salisbury for Drokk: Music inspired by Mega-City One, a record built around the Judge Dredd comic-book universe.
