General Lee

General Lee is a French hardcore band from Lille, active from 2016 to 2020. The group works in post-hardcore and is also associated with post-metal, sludge, hardcore, post-rock and heavy doom.

Background

The band forms in Lille, France, and is also linked with Béthune in northern France. From 2002, it develops a sound built around chaos, intensity, darkness and emotion, with abrasive hardcore at its core. Its music combines heavy, melancholic riffs with icy, oppressive atmospheres and cathartic screaming.

Recordings

After a number of recording experiments, the band releases Hannibal ad Portas, described as its main album. The record uses strong contrasts and a tense, near-breakdown atmosphere, and the band’s sound is presented as heavy, doom-laden and emotionally abrasive.
