Gene Hunt is a Chicago house DJ and producer from Chicago, United States. He is active from the 1980s and is described as one of the early pioneers of Chicago house music. His work sits within house, acid house, techno, Detroit techno and Detroit-related dance music scenes.

Career

Hunt begins producing and DJing in the 1980s and plays at a number of important Chicago clubs, including The Warehouse, The Music Box, Medusas and The Playground. These venues place him within the city’s early house-music history.

Releases and labels

His first record is the EP Living In A Land, which appears in 1989 on Housetime Records, a sister label of Trax Records. The record is later regarded as a classic. After that, he releases tracks on a range of respected house labels.

Collaborations

Hunt works with Robert Owens, DJ Pierre’s Phuture and Ron Hardy. These collaborations connect him with key figures in Chicago house and acid house.
